On playgrounds, it is also necessary to regularly renovate and/or replace the safety surfacing. This becomes necessary as soon as the old safety surfacing no longer meets the requirements of the relevant standard or when play equipment is to be replaced and therefore a new surface is needed. In the latter case, it is of course of interest to the playground operator to what extent parts of the old safety system can be retained. If, on the other hand, the playground does not need to be renovated, it is difficult for many operators to recognise if and when replacement of the safety surfacing becomes necessary. Moreover, there may also be plans to change the type of safety surfacing. The question then arises as to which safety surfacing is suitable for the existing playground. This question also arises in the case of complete renovations. Which safety surfacing is suitable for my playground? And what about reusing parts of the old safety surfacing in the interests of sustainability? Is it only necessary to repair or replace the surface or do the underlying layers need to be repaired or replaced as well? In addition, there is also the question of whether the drainage still works.

In this process, the experts from our company will examine the current status of your existing safety surfacing system, including the base layer and substructure, on site. Based on the results, ISP’s experts will be able to determine the need for renovation and the options for further action, which they will discuss with you as the operator. All inspections are, of course, carried out in accordance with the requirements of the currently valid standards DIN EN 1176 and DIN EN 1177. A renovation report can thus provide you with planning security, save costs and ensure a long service life for the renovated safety surfacing in the playground. Moreover, it can be determined whether a renovation is necessary at all at present.
